Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for Early Head Start or Head Start Preschool, an applicant must be determined age and income/categorically eligible.

Early Head Start (EHS): Pregnant Women or children 0-36 months.
Head Start Preschool (HSP):  Children 3–5 years old (not yet in Kindergarten)

Applicant or family member living with and supported by the child’s Parent(s) or Guardian(s) is receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI)

If your family is a 2 parent or guardian household, we will need income from both parents/guardians
A family’s gross annual income must be at or below the current Federal Poverty Guidelines

Documents that can be submitted may vary based on eligibility.

We will generally accept a written statement as a last resort if you cannot get the documents needed.

Applicants who apply using a hard copy application should receive an application receipt in the mail within 7 business days of submission.

We will keep your confidential application on file until your child is no longer age-eligible for services.
