JOB TITLE: INFANT/TODDLER CAREGIVER.

Recruitment Type: Open until filled

Period of Employment: Year-round for FDFY.
Hours: 32hrs/week.
Program/Department: Early Head Start.

General Summary:
Under the direction of the Center Director, supports the day-to-day care of infants and toddlers in an Early Head Start classroom using developmentally appropriate practices and curriculum, Program for Infant and Toddler Care (PITC) philosophies, and building responsive relationships with children and families.

Qualifications:
12 ECE Core units including 3 units infant/toddler.

JOB TITLE: CLASSROOM AIDE.

Period of Employment: 10 months/year.

General Summary:

Provides food service for early childhood classrooms, assists teaching staff to supervise children and supports center-based operations to ensure Child Start goals and objectives are accomplished as outlined in Head Start Performance Standards.

 Qualifications:

  1. Ability to read menus, transport/delivery sheets, and other food service-related forms in English.
  2. Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and communicate effectively and lift up to 50 pounds.
  3. Knowledge of proper social skills with food and interest in working directly with young children and families.
  4. Knowledge of cooking techniques, with the ability to use knives and other kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.

JOB TITLE: ASSOCIATE TEACHER.

General Summary:

Under the direction of the Center Director, provides child supervision, instruction and assists in planning and implementation of a center-based curriculum for children and families to meet all requirements outlined in the Head Start Performance Standards.

 Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and Experience

  • 12 ECE units and must qualify and obtain a Child Development Permit. Original (or certified copies) of all credentials or certificates and college transcripts indicating applicable coursework to meet the requirements of the position as a condition of employment.
  • One year of experience working with preschool children. Previous Head Start experience is desirable.

JOB TITLE: REGIONAL SUB TEACHER.

Period of Employment: 12 months/year.

Program/Department: Head Start/Early Head Start.

Provides support to the center staff to facilitate optimum delivery of services.  Responsible for partnering with the teaching staff to further the emotional, cognitive, and social development of Early Head Start and Head Start children by implementing relationship-based, developmentally appropriate program services.

 Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

    1. Six months of full-time experience in a licensed care program teaching low income, multi-ethnic infant, toddler or preschool aged children.
    2. Effective interpersonal, communication, and teaching skills.
    3. Ability to pass medical exam and TB test. And new immunization requirements.
    4. Ability to obtain First Aid/CPR certification.

California Driver’s License, required insurance, good driving record and reliable vehicle Early Childhood coursework demonstrated by either:

  1. Twelve (12) units in early childhood education with the completion of the following classes: Child Development; Child, Family and Community; Curriculum and other related coursework that meets Community Care Licensing criteria; and three (3) units in Infant/Toddler care.

Or

2. A Valid Child Development Permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing at the Child Development Associate Teacher , Child  Development Teacher or Child Development Master Teacher Permit and three (3) units in Infant/Toddler care.

Education and Experience

General Summary:

    • Ability to pass criminal record clearance
    • A clear TB test and a statement of good health from a doctor are required as a condition of employment.
    • Ability to provide proof of immunization against measles, pertussis, and influenza.
    • Willingness to report any suspected child abuse as required by state law.

JOB TITLE: SUBSTITUTE TEACHER.

General Summary:

Responsible for partnering with the teaching staff in the implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of therapeutic child care curricula and activities in an environment that supports the values of Child Start and meets the needs of Head Start and Early Head Start children (0 to 5). JOB TITLE: MAINTENANCE WORKER

Program/Department: Facilities and Distribution.

General Summary:

Responsible for facility and equipment inspection and preventative maintenance and repair of mechanical systems, including fans, pumps/motors, and plumbing equipment. Also responsible for cleanliness and safety of mechanical areas in buildings.

 Qualifications:

• Minimum one year experience in general building maintenance, including knowledge of HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and hardware.
• Availability to respond to emergency needs.
• Ability to lift up to 80 pounds and walk, stand, bend, kneel, and stoop frequently.
• Good balance to work at elevations above six feet.
• Valid California Driver’s license.
